Welcome to 1wheel1gift.org My name is Robert Coggins. I'm a Unicyclist. . . I'm an extreme unicyclist who rides long distances on a unicycle for charity events. This year, I'm riding for some great causes. The 1st one is on May 16th in Atlanta and it's also for the American Diabetes Association.

Did you know that there are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease. Diabetes is the fifth leading cause of death by disease in the United States. Tour de Cure is a series of fund-raising cycling events held in 40 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

The next event is August is called 24 hours of Booty. This is a 24hr cycling ride in Columbia, MD to benefit cancer. It's the official 24-hour road ride of the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

1.4 million Americans are expected to be diagnosed with cancer this year. 560,000 Americans are expected to die from cancer this year, or more than 1,500 per day. The overall cost for cancer last year was $206 billion, which includes $78 billion for medical bills, $18 billion for lost productivity from the illness, and $110 billion due to lost productivity from premature death. 17% of Americans younger than age 65 have no health insurance coverage and 24% of Americans age 65 or older only have Medicare.

The reason for doing both of these events is because I have family and friends that are living with these diseases and fighting a battle to stay alive. I also want to honor those who have passed on. I believe that some men are put on this earth to do great things for mankind, and I believe that I was put on this earth to something great. I'm one man on one unicycle fighting one great battle, and I need your help. Below is more information on each event and link to the website if you would like to make a gift. If you would like to mail in a gift for either event, send me an email.

The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. We exist to make sure it doesn't. The MS 150 Jack Daniel's "Bike to Jack and Back" starts in Franklin, TN and finishes in Lynchburg. This is a beautiful scenic unicycle ride through Tennessee's countryside just on the brink of fall. With a incredible rest stop in the middle at the Jack Daniel's Distillery.
24 Hours of Booty is the one and only 24-hour road cycling charity event in the country. The official 24-hour road ride of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The ride itself is a meaningful experience for riders and supporters of the event. Participant sinclude cancer survivors celebrating life and strength; and family and friends who ride in honor of a loved one affected by cancer, or in memory of a loved one who lost the battle with the disease.

The Tour de Cure is a series of fund-raising bicycling events held in 40 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is working to fight the deadly consequences of diabetes and to help those affected by diabetes. The Association funds research to manage, cure and prevent diabetes (including type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and pre-diabetes); delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides information for both patients and health care professionals; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes
The Challenged Athletes Foundation grew out of a desire to assist one athlete paralyzed in a triathlon. From this modest beginning arose a more important mission – to make sure people with physical challenges have the same freedom to enjoy sports as everyone else. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life.
